Miss Chan
Miss Chan Bin San Vera
PhD candidate of School of Biological Sciences

Miss Chan, PhD candidate supervised by Dr Vengatesen Thiyagarajan of School of Biological Sciences, received Faculty Excellent Teaching Assistant Award 2012-13, for her contributions in outstanding performance in providing teaching support and interaction with students.

Miss Chan is a dedicated student with great passion on interdisciplinary research. She believes that research knows no boundaries. In a variety of lab sessions and field courses, she is a good coordinator between students, professors and technicians, her efforts usually allow better preparation of classroom resources and atmosphere. When teaching in a field course, she finds the best ways to convince students to enjoy working hard in the field are to squat low and get her hands dirty first. This would make the students believe they can do the same or even better. Miss Chan also likes interacting with students in her spare time. She frequently offers advice to undergraduate and new postgraduate students to help them with difficulties about research and time management.
