Three academics from our Faculty have been recognised for their research excellence and innovation in the latest funding exercises by the Research Grants Council (RGC).

Professor Shuang ZHANG, Chair of Physics in the Department of Physics, is the leader of the ‘Photonic Integrated Platforms Based on Topological Physics’ project, which secured HK$10M under the Strategic Topics Grant. The project aims to create dynamic and programmable photonic circuits with advanced functionalities by combining recent advances in topological and integrated photonics.

In addition to Professor Zhang's achievement, Professor Xuechen LI in the Department of Chemistry was awarded Senior Research Fellow(SRFS), and Dr Joseph MICHALSKI in the Department of Earth Sciences was awarded Research Fellow(RFS).

The RGC funding schemes support research across a range of disciplines and are highly competitive. The recognition of these three academics is a testament to their exceptional research and the innovative projects they are leading.
