HKU Physicist Professor Ziyang MENG Awarded 2024 Top China Cited Paper in Physics

Professor Ziyang Meng from the Department of Physics has been recognised with the 2024 Top China Cited Paper Award (Physics) for his research paper, "Momentum Space Quantum Monte Carlo on Twisted Bilayer Graphene," published in Chinese Physics Letters.

This award highlights the ten most cited papers authored by researchers based in China, all of which rank in the top 1% of articles published in IOP Publishing, underscoring the widespread impact of Professor Meng's work in the scientific community.

Reflecting on the significance of his research, Professor Meng remarked, “We need to understand why twisted bilayer and multilayer graphene become superconducting. This can show potential solutions to the energy crisis.” His research demonstrates the crucial role of fundamental science in addressing global energy challenges.
