We are pleased to announce that the 206th Congregation, Faculty of Science, HKU will be held on July 21, 2022 (Thursday)*. To facilitate convenience for students and align with international practices, the University will hold two Faculty-based Congregations annually from this year onwards, i.e. the Summer and Winter Congregations. Graduands will be assigned to the Congregation that aligns closest with their graduation period according to the University’s protocols in general, provided that they have fulfilled all the graduation requirements by the cut-off date of that Congregation.
To meet physical distancing protocols amid the pandemic situation, we are planning to organise in-person Faculty-based Congregation sessions on a smaller scale – only graduands are invited to attend the ceremony while parents and guests will join in via live broadcast.
As in previous years, the Ceremony is regarded as one of our biggest events and is very much looked forward to by our graduates. Families and friends of our graduates will be proud to see them recognised on stage at this memorable and once-in-a-life occasion. Class of 2022, please mark this important date in your calendar, and we will notify graduates individually by HKU email by April 2022. Please keep checking your @connect.hku.hk mail box to get messages from the Faculty. Stay tuned.
Kindly note that the University will keep monitoring the situation and make appropriate adjustments to the ceremony arrangements whenever required. If the COVID situation worsens and in-person participation of graduands becomes impossible, a virtual ceremony in an online format will be organised by the University to confer the degrees. The announcement of such a contingency plan will be made by a month in advance by latest to facilitate the preparations for the Congregation.
