The Faculty of Science is committed to offer diverse experiential learning activities for undergraduate students to broaden their horizon. The Faculty welcomes students to take internship not only locally but also overseas/ in Mainland China so as to gain working experience and cultural exposure. To encourage and support students to take internship overseas or in Mainland China, the Faculty offer sponsorships on travelling and accommodation expenses to eligible BSc, BSc&MRes, BSc(ActuarSc) and BASc(AppliedAI) students to engage in internship overseas or in Mainland China.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SPONSORSHIP OF OVERSEAS / MAINLAND INTERNSHIP FOR BSC, BSC&MRES, BSC(ACTUARSC) & BASC(APPLIEDAI) STUDENTS
BSc, BSc&MRes, BSc(ActuarSc) and BASc(AppliedAI) students of Year 3 and above who have been approved to enroll in the discipline internship course* and will conduct the internship in the industry or in a private company (research institution is EXCLUDED) overseas or in Mainland China in summer are welcome to join.
Each student should be awarded only ONE sponsorship from the Faculty throughout his/her study, regardless of the amount he/she receives.

BIOC4966 Biochemistry internship;
BIOL4861 Ecology & biodiversity internship;
- BIOL4962 Food & nutritional science internship;
- BIOL4963 Molecular biology & biotechnology internship;
- BIOL4964 Biological sciences internship;
- CHEM4966 Chemistry internship;
- EASC4966 Earth sciences internship;
- ENVS4966 Environmental science internship;
- MATH4966 Mathematics internship;
- PHYS4966 Physics internship;
- ENTR4966 Entrepreneurship internship;
- APAI4766 Applied AI internship;
- STAT4766 Statistics internship; and
- STAT4767 Actuarial science internship.
Students are reminded to ensure the validity of their passport/ travel document, visa and insurance before engaging in overseas/Mainland internship.
SPONSORSHIP DETAILS OF OVERSEAS / MAINLAND INTERNSHIP FOR BSC, BSC&MRES, BSC(ACTUARSC) & BASC(APPLIEDAI) STUDENTS
Successful applicants will receive up to 80% of the expenses incurred in the internship (eligible items include air ticket and accommodation) and not more than
- HK$5,000 for overseas/Mainland internship in Area 1*; and
- HK$12,000 for overseas internship in Area 2*
on reimbursement basis upon the successful completion of the internship.
*Remarks:
Area 1: Asia countries/cities such as Mainland China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, India, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
Area 2: Other countries/cities such as Europe, America, Australia, Africa
APPLICATION & SUBMISSION FOR SPONSORSHIP OF OVERSEAS / MAINLAND INTERNSHIP FOR BSC, BSC&MRES, BSC(ACTUARSC) & BASC(APPLIEDAI) STUDENTS
Students should submit the completed application form with the endorsement of the Course Coordinator of the internship course, together with a copy of the submitted ‘Internship Course Application Form’ and a copy of internship contract to the Faculty Office by the stipulated deadline.
Students are required to submit the following to the Faculty Office within one month after the completion of the internship.
- a copy of the internship report;
- a sharing of your internship experience of about 200 words;
- 5 photos; and
- record of expenses with original receipts
