Dr Yu received Award for Service Contribution 2012-13, for his contributions in service, departmental administration, and outreach activities in the Faculty.

Dr Yu has made significant efforts in serving the Department, the Faculty, and the University throughout the past 20 years. He is the Director of Master of Statistics (MStat) Programme, and has served in the Editorial Board of Faculty Newsletter, Faculty Computer Committee, University Admissions Committee, Boards of Trustees for SPF, STBS and TOS III Scheme, and Catering Committee.

Dr Yu has made remarkable contribution in a variety of outreach activities, including public seminars, school talks and science workshops in junior science institute, articles in newspapers, book for general public, and statistics creative writing competition for secondary school students, to promote statistical literacy.  He is actively engaging in curriculum development for the Statistics and Risk Management Majors of the 4-year undergraduate curriculum and the Master of Statistics programme. 

Dr Yu has also been active in sharing his knowledge with the community through contributing professional consultancy services and serving on professional organizations including Hospital Authority, HKEx, Manulife(HK), Environmental Protection Department, Public Examination Board of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA), and CDC-HKEAA Committee on Mathematics Education of the New Senior Secondary curriculum.”
