Congratulations to Professor Jian WANG from Research Division of Physics and Astronomy, for his research being selected as one of the 50 Milestone papers in the last 50 years of Physical Review B, a top physics journal published by the American Physical Society.

Since its debut in 2001, the paper has been widely recognisied by academics in the community. The paper focused on the determination of ballistic conductance through device interface, at which Professor Wang and his co-authors applied density functional theory in combination with a nonequilibrium Green’s-function approach to model a device system made of a carbon nanotube and an AL metallic electrode. Their findings pave the way for the advancement of device modeling at the atomistic level. This is also a landmark achievement highlighting the research strength of the Research Division on quantum matter and its lasting contributions to condensed matter physics.
