Faculty of Science Celebrates Double Success in Prestigious RGC Research Fellow Scheme

The Faculty of Science is delighted to announce that two of its distinguished academics have been awarded the highly competitive RGC Research Fellow Scheme (RFS) for 2025/26.

Professor Binzheng ZHANG from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences has been recognised for his project on ‘Multi-scale Modeling and Forecasting of Planetary Space Environment’, while Professor Zhiwen ZHANG from the Department of Mathematics received the award for his research on ‘Efficient Particle-based Computational Methods and Deep Learning Methods for Convection-diffusion PDE Systems and their Scientific Applications’.

Each award includes a fellowship grant of approximately HK$5.4 million over a period of 60 months, empowering the awardees to advance their research and mentor the next generation of local research talent in Hong Kong.

This outstanding achievement reaffirms the Faculty's commitment to research excellence and its pivotal role in driving scientific innovation in Hong Kong and beyond. Congratulations to both awardees!
