The "next big thing" after the current wave and dramatic rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are so-called brain interface technologies (BIT) and their wide range of potential applications. Mr Schoeneburg will discuss the current state of the art and especially the future of BIT. The focus of the presentation will be on presenting and motivating challenging research topics around BIT and how to approach them. BIT requires highly multi-disciplinary solutions and often deep knowledge from various sciences such as medicine, molecular-, cellular and quantum biology, cognitive sciences, bio-psychology, neuroscience, (bio) engineering, signal processing, computer sciences, (quantum) physics and various areas of mathematics and AI. As a matter of fact, even conventional AI is not sufficient nor efficient enough for solving major problems in the BIT field. Several future disrupting applications of BIT will be presented.
