The instruments are hyphenated technique of gas chromatograph (GC) and mass spectrometer (MS) and they are used for determination of target chemicals and identification of unknown chemicals in samples.  They are suitable for compounds which are volatile under 450˚C and they are usually applied to analyze organic compounds in food, drug & fragrance and environmental monitoring.
