Dr Chan received his undergraduate degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and postgraduate degree from the University of Alberta. He joined The University of Hong Kong in 1993. He has served as the Chairman of the Curriculum and Teaching Committee and the Chief Examiner of Chemistry during the years of undergraduate curriculum reform, and coordinated the development of the 4-year Chemistry curriculum as well as the accredited Chemistry curriculum. He has also served in various committees at the Faculty level. He is fortunate to be among colleagues who are enthusiastic in teaching and learning. Working with teams of sincere and talented educators, service has been a source of joy. 

Dr Chan treasures his role as a teacher as well as a mentor of students. He enjoys interactions with students inside and outside the classroom. He finds it most satisfying and blessed to have the opportunity to inspire and influence students in a positive light. He chooses to serve in various teaching-related committees so as to contribute to the learning environment of our undergraduate students.
