Please read the following important notices before submitting your registration or personal information:
Event photography and recording: Please note that events may be photographed, filmed, or otherwise recorded. Images and recordings may be used by the Faculty of Science and/or The University of Hong Kong on official platforms, including websites, social media channels, and publications, for publicity, communication, and archival purposes.
Direct communications: With your consent, the Faculty of Science and/or The University of Hong Kong may use your name and contact details to send you information about programmes, activities, events, services, publications, and opportunities to support the University. You may withdraw your consent at any time, free of charge, by contacting us by email.
General Information
The personal data you provide will be used by the Faculty of Science of The University of Hong Kong (“the Faculty”) and, where appropriate, by authorised offices of The University of Hong Kong (“the University”) for administration, service delivery, and communications related to your interaction with us. This includes processing registrations or enquiries, coordinating logistics, providing requested updates, verifying identity where required, maintaining records and archives, and ensuring the proper functioning of University systems.
Providing personal data is voluntary. However, if you do not provide information marked as required, we may be unable to process your request. For the same purposes, your personal data may be processed by authorised University offices and trusted service providers under a duty of confidentiality, and may also be disclosed where required by law.
Personal data will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the stated purposes, in accordance with University policies and applicable legal requirements. Appropriate safeguards will be adopted to protect personal data, although no electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data held by the Faculty and the University. Requests or enquiries may be directed to science@hku.hk or to the University Data Protection Officer at privacy@hku.hk.
