It has always been the Faculty of Science’s strategy to nurture undergraduate research. In summer 2017, ninety-six students took part in our flagship programmes Summer Research Fellowship (SRF) and Overseas Research Fellowship (ORF) Schemes, and the summer research internship either locally or overseas under the University’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship Programme (URFP). sixteen of them were from the YSS (2016 cohort)! A Poster Presentation was held on October 18, 2017 so that the participants could share their research findings with their teachers and fellow students.
A guided tour was arranged particularly for YSS students in this Poster Presentation. It was led by Dr Thiyagarajan Vengatesen (Rajan), our Assistant Dean (Experiential Learning). Dr Rajan guided the YSS students to visit posters and listen to the SRF/ORF/URFP participants’ research findings. The YSS students who joined the SRF Scheme also shared with their buddies about their joy, difficulties and achievements of their research projects.
