Hong Kong dollar (HKD) is the official currency. It is pegged to the US dollar at HKD 7.8 to US$1.00 and is freely convertible. Traveler's check is easily cashed and major credit cards are widely accepted. ATM (ETC) facilities are widespread.
10% service charge is added to hotels and restaurants bills. It is also customary to leave a small tip.
