About Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated around the world on April 22 every year. On this special day, festivals, rallies, workshops, competitions are organized globally to honour the Earth and its importance to the development of humankind and society.

About the workshop
Talk and hands-on workshops will enrich students’ knowledge about the Earth. Participants will also gain knowledge on some hot topics closely related to the Earth.

Workshop Highlights
Talk: Understanding our Earth
Speaker: Dr Petra Bach, Department of Earth Sciences
Will we use up all natural resources on the Earth one day? The talk will introduce how geological processes affect availability of natural resources and sustainable development. 
     

Museum workshop: Earth materials and their uses
Through hands-on integrated lab and museum activities, participants will understand how earth materials can tell the changes of environmental and climatic conditions in the past.


Ecology workshop: Buildings and urban ecology
Through observing the rich biodiversity on the HKU Campus, participants will understand more about the relationship between urban building design and ecology.
